PAINTED TOWER CLOCK,Renaissance, Switzerland circa 1520/40. Chased iron. Open case with exceptionally fine corner pinnacles and prominent bell cage on a later framework. Finely painted, supplemented dial with the adage "WENNS UBEL GEHT HAB ICH GEDULD/VERZAG ICH NIT SO BRINGTS MIR HULD". Fine iron movement with striking and clockwork mechanism with foliot, hour striking on bell and hammer in the form of a mythical creature. 37x41x70 cm. H with stand 207 cm.
