CUIRASSIER CHEST PROTECTOR,German or Swiss, 1st half of the 18th century. Forged iron, small perforations on the side, with a broad slit in the arm region. Probably a chest protector for a horseman, which did not have a back plate. Fastened by means of broad straps on the shoulders and at the waist. Small lateral perforation for fixing the inside padding.

deutsch, oder schweizerisch, 1. Hälfte 18. Jh.
Eisen geschmiedet, seitlich kleine Löcher, im Armbereich ein breiter Schlitz. Wahrscheinlich handelt sich es um eine Reiter Brustplatte, welche ohne Hinterplatte war. Befestigung durch breite Riemen in der Taille und an den Schultern, kleine seitliche Löcher am Rand haben zur Fixierung des Innenpolsters gedient. Ähnliche Teile haben die Sapeure im 17.-18. Jahrhundert benutzt.
