IMPORTANT CHEST WITH BISHOP'S COAT OF ARMS,known as a "cassone da corredo", Late Renaissance, probably Rome, 17th century. Exceptionally richly carved, gilt and partly polychrome painted wood. With compartment. Restorations and supplements. 149x63x80 cm. Provenance: - Traditionally considered to be formerly in the Piccolomini collection, Rome. - From a European private collection.

sog. "cassone da corredo", Spätrenaissance, wohl Rom, 17. Jh.
Holz ausserordentlich reich beschnitzt mit Karyatiden, Putten, Wappen, Medaillons, Voluten, Blättern und Zierfries sowie vergoldet und teils polychrom gefasst. Bastionsförmiger Korpus mit gestuftem, eingezogenem Deckel auf entsprechend gestuftem Sockel. Ausserordentlich reiche, architektonisch gegliederte Front mit 1 Puttokopf, 4 Karyatiden und 4 Putten in Nischen. Mit Beilade. Restaurationen und Ergänzungen. 149x63x80 cm.
