A LACQUER GILT WOOD FIGURE OF THE SEATED AMIDA NYÔRAI. Japan, Edo period, height 33 cm (without the replaced aureole).

Japan, Edo-Periode, H 33 cm (ohne Aureole).
Holz mit Gold über Schwarzlack. Der Buddha mit eingelegter Urna und feinem Schnurrbart sitzt versunken auf einem runden doppelten Lotossockel, die Hände in Mida-no jôin im Schoss. Der darunter liegende Sockel ist leicht achtpassig und besteht aus mehreren getreppten Bordüren. Die fein beschnitzte Mandorla ist später ergänzt worden.
