MONUMENTAL CLOCK "LA PAIX ET L'ABONDANCE"

French Restoration, signed J.H. Doresse Fabr. de Bronzes de la Cour à Bruxelles, ca. 1830. The design by T.-F. Suys (Tilman-François Suys, 1783-1861) for King William I of the Netherlands and the Royal Palace in Brussels. Monogrammed LR.
Gilt bronze. Rectangular base with profiled leaf frieze, the front decorated in relief with putti dancing. The upper part with a tall clock case on paw feet with scrolled leaves. Brass dial. Engraved hours in Roman numerals. To the left and the right of the clock, a female Allegory of Peace and Abundance, respectively. Lateral handles with leaf decoration. Movement with lever escapement, striking the 1/2-hour on bell. Numbered: *189.
