MANTEL CLOCK "AUX BACCHANTES", Louis XVI, von P.P. THOMIRE (Pierre-Philippe Thomire, 1751-1843), the dial signed ARMINGAUD L'AINE A PARIS, Paris circa 1785. Matte and polished gilt bronze and "Carrara" marble. Hexagonal case held aloft by 2 bacchantes and a ram, a seated bacchante with satyr. The clock with enamel dial, fine verge escapement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. 50x16x52 cm.

Bronze matt- und glanzvergoldet sowie "Carrara"-Marmor. Hexagonales Gehäuse, getragen von 2 Bacchantinnen mit Geissbock, mit sitzender, einen kleinen Satyr haltender Bacchantin als Aufsatz, auf rechteckigem Sockel mit Kugelfüssen. Emailzifferblatt mit arabischen Minuten- und römischen Stundenzahlen. Feines Spindelwerk mit 1/2-Stundenschlag auf Glocke. Ausserordentlich feine Bronzebeschläge und -applikationen in Form von Faunenmasken, Blättern und Zierfries. 50x16x52 cm.
