A RARE AND EARLY WOOD FIGURE OF AMIDA NYÔRAI. Japan, Heian period (9th -12th c.), height 39 cm (without later added base).

Japan, Heian-Periode (9.-12- Jh.), H 39 cm (ohne Sockel).
Hinoki-Holz. Schlichte stehende Figur des Amida Nyôrai. Das Mönchsgewand bedeckt beide Schultern und lässt u-förmig die Brust frei. Die Frisur ist glatt und sitzt kappenartig auf dem runden Gesicht, das weich modelliert ist. Hände und farbige Fassung verloren. Der Rücken ist separat gefertigt und mit Holznägelchen befestigt. Der runde Lotossockel ist später ergänzt.
