A SPLENDID BRONZE VESSEL "LI". China, Early Western Zhou dynasty, height 29.5 cm.

China, frühe Westliche Zhou Dynastie, H 29,5 cm.
Dreibeiniges, bauchiges Gefäss mit drei grossen Taotiemasken auf leiwen-Spiralgrund, deren Hörner plastisch aus der Wandung herauswachsen. Dieses Motiv wiederholt sich zweifach auf dem Deckel, dessen Mitte mit einer Stiermaske als Knauf geschmückt ist. Am Hals des Gefässes schmalere Taotiemotive, getrennt von vertikalen Graten.
