A ROYAL TAPESTRY COVERED SUITE, Louis XVI, the frames after models by G. JACOB (Georges Jacob, maitre 1745), the covers from the Manufacture de Beauvais, Paris, End of the 18th century. Comprising: 1 four-seater canapé and 10 large medallion back fauteuils "à la reine". Fluted and finely carved parcel-gilt beech frames with fluted columnar legs, flat backrests and upholstered armrests. The tapestry covers with depictions of exotic birds and scenes from the fables of La Fontaine. Canapé 206x55x47x123 cm, Fauteuils 66x48x47x101 cm. Provenance: - formerly collection of Queen Marie Amélie of Portugal (1865-1951). According to tradition the suite was located in the Château de Bellevue near Chesnay, where the Queen lived in exile. - Stuker auction, Bern, 1970s. - private collection, Austria.

IMPORTANT CLOCK "AUX AMOURS" WITH CARILLON,Louis XVI, the case signed OSMOND (Robert Osmond, maitre 1746), the dial and movement signed VAUCHEZ A PARIS (Daniel Vauchez, maitre 1747), Paris circa 1775/85. Matte and polished gilt bronze. Enamel dial. Verge escapement striking the 1/2 hours on bell. Carillon in the base with 11 bells for 8 melodies, on the hour and on demand. Rich gilt mounts and applications. 40x23x67 cm. The model offered here is recorded under number 42 in "Livre de dessin" by R. Osmond and described as: "Grand vaze avec une anse a tete de lion avec une coffre pour loger un carrillon sur lequel sont assis 2 enfants." Additionally, the thereto noted price of 1133 Livres was extremely high in comparison to other clocks. Today, such a model is part of the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (Inventory No. GR 109) and another belonged to the collection of E. Kraemer and was sold on 14.6.1982 (Lot No. 499) by Sotheby's Monaco.
